EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

September 2000 – November 2004: Schneider Automation Inc, North Andover, MA (USA)

Designed, Developed, Implemented and Tested Real-Time Embedded Ethernet Products’ Firmware for Industrial Automation. The Embedded Systems consisted of a Motorola PowerPC (860T) and CirrusLogic ARM processors using the VxWorks Real-Time Operating System. Two projects I worked on involved an Ethernet Option Module for a family of PLCs (Programmable Logical Controllers). The third project was a coupler module interfacing Modbus over TCP/IP and CANOPEN for distributed I/O modules.

As a Real-Time Embedded Design Engineer on those projects, I was required to learn: ClearCase Configuration System, Tornado II (IDE for VxWorks), Ethereal Network Sniffer, TCP/IP, FTP, DHCP, HTTP, SMTP, NTP, XML-RPC, IP multicast, TCP/IP Networking and Troubleshooting, CANOPEN. Those development projects were co-developments with a design team in the US, a design team in France, and a third team in Germany, requiring regular technical phone and video conferencing. Design was object-oriented using UML and C++.

Wrote and reviewed Product Specifications, Architecture Specifications, Technical Specifications. Actively took part into the design, coding and testing phases. Used Perl scripts for automated functionnal testing over Ethernet. Participated in the resolution of customers critical issues. Participated in different knowledge transfers from the our team (R&D) to the continuing engineering team.

Familiar with the Capability Maturity Model for Software (the organization went from Level 1 to Level 2 during the time I was employed)

Interviewed several candidates for permanent and contractor positions for our development team.

March – July 2000:
CS Telecom, Fontenay aux Roses, France

Participated in the project of Web-based management software for a telecom equipment involving ATM and ADSL technologies. Participated in the product specifications and in the development of the user interface. Used SNMP protocol and HTML coding.

July – September 1999:
Futurocom, Bagneux, France

Participated in the project of a protocol analyzer for GSM. Simulations in C language of the GSM radio interface after demodulation.

July – August 1998:
ECI Telecom, Israel

Development of drivers for measuring instruments with GPIB technology and participated in the development of an automatic test bench.

July 1996: CNET (France Telecom’s R&D center), Issy–les-Moulineaux, France

Technical assistant in the Electromagnetic Compatibility Department: EMC measures in anechoïc chambers and in free space
